Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is the most important of the traditional chinese holiday. The festival traditionally begins on the first day of the first lunar month(正月) in the Chinese calendar and ends on the 15th; this day is called Lantern Festival.

History
Chinese New Year falls on different dates each year. Each year or each dates fall to 12 animals name. 12-year cycle of the animal zodiac. These 12 animals are Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.

Legend
In the background of Chinese New Year got many legends and story. According to talent and legend, he beginning of Chinese New Year started with the fight against a mythical beast called the Nian or "年" in Chinese. Nian would come on the first of the New Year to attack village. So every year they would prepaid and put food in front of their doors. One time, people saw that the Nian was scared away by a little child wearing red. The villagers then understood that the Nian was afraid of the color red. Hence, every time when the New Year was about to come, the villagers would hang red lanterns and red spring scrolls on windows and doors. People also used firecrackers to frighten away the Nian. From then on, the Nian never came to the village again. Some of this tradisional chinese culture is from this legend till now. Example, when Chinese New Year some of family will hang red lanterns and red spring scrolls on windows and door and we would hear sound of firecrakers when Chinese New Year.

The Chinese New Year celebrations are marked by visit relatives and friend, a practice known as "new-year visits"(拜年). The married and elders, will give "red packet"(angpao红包) to juniors and children. On period of Chinese New Year, many of family also will having reunion dinner. This mean whole family together having dinner.

Food of Chinese New YeaR
When Chinese New Year we will having some special food. Some of these food got their meaning and many people trust some of these food will bring lucky to them.

• YuShengs(鱼生) - Raw fish salad. Eating this salad is said to bring good luck. This dish is usually eaten on the seventh day of the New Year.
  
• Nian Gao(年糕) - Popular Chinese New Year food. It meaning "a more prosperous year".



• Mandarin Orange(柑) - Most popular and most abundant fruit during Chinese New Year.
• Melon Seed/Kwatji(瓜子) - Other variations include sunflower and pumpkin seeds.
  


• Bakkwa(肉干) - Chinese salty-sweet dried meat which is trimmed of the fat, sliced, marinated and then smoked for later consumption or as a gift. Some people with take bakkwa as gift for their friend and relative.
  

• Fish - It is meaning each year more additional money and live

Dragon Dance & Lion Dance

Dragon and lion dances are common during Chinese New Year. It is believed that the loud beats of the drum and the deafening sounds of the cymbals together with the face of the dragon or lion dancing aggressively can evict bad or evil spirits.

Greeting of Chinese New Year

Gong Xi Fa Cai - 恭喜发财 is translates to "Congratulations and be prosperous"

In the early 1930's, a farmer and his wife went to a fair. The farmer was fascinated by the airplanes and asked a pilot how much a ride would cost.

"$10 for 3 minutes," replied the pilot. "That's too much," said the farmer.

The pilot thought for a second and then said, "I'll make you a deal. If you and your wife ride for 3 minutes without uttering a sound, the ride will be free. But if you make a sound, you'll have to pay $10."

The farmer and his wife agreed and went for a wild ride. After they landed, the pilot said to the farmer, "I want to congratulate you for not making a sound. You are a brave man."

"Maybe so," said the farmer, "But I gotta tell ya, I almost screamed when my wife fell out."

Little Johnny drew a fly on the class grade book.

It looked so realistic, that when Miss Baker saw the fly sitting on the notebook, she slammed it with a ruler.

The fly didn’t fly away. So she slammed the book once again, again the fly didn’t fly away.
This drove Miss Baker really mad, so she started to pound the book with the ruler and, as a result, the grade book became a bunch of torn sheets of paper.

With the class laughing, she realized what had happened.

Then Miss Baker called Little Johnny’s father to school.

"You see what your son did to our class grade book?" she said."That’s nothing." replied the father.

"Last month, he drew a naked woman on a fence and for two weeks straight I was pulling splinters out of my dick."

I‘M BACK

yup~i'm back to inti hostel from seremban(my grandmother's home).

2 day ago receive a call from my mum, she call me to visit my grandmother at Seremban. From inti go to my grandmother's home almost need 2hours journey. I go alone by bus and train to my grandmother. On the day i feel boring and a little scare because this is my first time alone go to grandmum home. Finally i reach my grandmun by safe ^^When i reach my grandmum's home already 8.3opm.


In my grandmum home, my grandmum tell my about my auntie was sicked now is danger moment. When i hear about this, i fell surprise because few month ago, my auntie stay my home few week. At the time my auntie is look fine and healtly, but now was been isolate. Is quite serious.(i not very clear wat ill she got==") I feel sad...because my auntie treat me quite nice. At the same time, i feel health is very important in our life.


I stay my grandmum home about 2 day. In this 2 day my grandmum treat me is well. And she cook my favour food (curry) for me. Actually my grandmum is very lonely because she live alone. In this 2 day i'm very happy. ^^After this time i think on chinese new year only can go to my grandmum home again.


Today i back to hostel alone. Today i no scare anymore, maybe i familiar the journey from seremban to inti. ^^ When i reach my room, i feel boring bacause tomorrow got class. And need study>.< weekend is end so fast .

My First Blog

Yeap...This is my first blog =.=". Today also is my 1st day to try to write blog. Erm...my english is no very well, so sry to all if i got some mistake. Actually i create this blog is for my course work(assigment). I think that is good. I can learn more and more from blog. Gambateh !!!
